An organization needs to understand the importance of communication skills in order to increase the effectiveness of “interpersonal communication which takes place between individuals or one individual with a small set of other people” (Baak, 2012, p.1.1). Communicating clearly is a vital part of optimizing worker and employer satisfaction. Good communication skills are key to success with relationships at work and in life. Recruiters look for people with good communication skills so that they can make their employees feel understood and valued. If your managers have this skill then they can boost employee morale and give workers a chance to feel recognized and valued. When there is a strong morale in offices and other work environments, job retention is high. The way I do this in the Army is every day at 9 am I have a meeting with all my squad leaders and tell them what tasks need to be done today, from there we all come up with ideas or plans on how we can get these tasks done. By doing this everyone is in the loop on what needs to be done and it also gives my Soldiers a chance to put their opinions in to show that their views are valued. Without effective communication, a message can turn into error, misunderstanding, frustration, or even disaster by being misinterpreted or poorly delivered.Poor communication is often a reason that employees quit jobs or look elsewhere to find other opportunities. Misunderstanding what is being said at work can lead to increased stress, job frustration, and products not getting completed.
